Taipei Itinerary and Budget

What to do in Taipei in 3 Day (Updated with expenses below)

Getting around Taipei and visiting the their famous monuments and shrine is very easy with the use of the MRT system. Most of the tourist attractions are accessible by MRT. Grab a map and explore the city.

Day 1

  • Morning arrival in Taoyuan International Airport
  • if you still don’t have Taiwan Dollar (NTD), money changer are available in the airport arrival hall. Rates are best in airport and money changer is rare in the city. Check my post how to change Php to NTD here
  • Transfer to Taipei by Express Train (35mins) to Taipei Main Station and transfer to other line if needed to reach your hotel
  • Grab late breakfast or early lunch in airport food court or any restaurants near hotel
  • Check in, if possible. If you still cannot check in, leave your luggage and just roam around the area near your hotel to get a glimpse of Taipei living.

  • Back to hotel and freshen up
  • Visit Taipei 101, discounted ticket of Taipei 101 Observatory is available in Klook.
  • Hike up to the Elephant Mountain before sunset for a great view of the Taipei 101
  • Night market , you can choose between Shilin or Raohe night market

Lakwatsero Tips:

    • Buy you easy card for discounted metro fare, 100NTD deposit and top up with 300NTD which is enough for 3days
    • Highly recommended to have your 4G Pocket Wifi.  This is very handy especially outside and need immediate internet connection for quick search

Day 2 – Taipei City Tour

  • Visit Taipei park, monuments and shrines
    • 2/28 Peace Park
    • Chiang Kai Shek Memorial, dont miss the changing of guard
    • Sun Yat Sen Memorial
  • Lunch in Din Tai Fung and try their famous Xiao Long Bao
  • Visit the Longshan Temple and see how Buddhist worship.
  • Head to Ximending Shopping Street and stroll along the youthful vibe of the street
  • Night Market dinner (Raohe or Shilin)

Day 3 – Outskirt of Taipei

    • Visit the countryside of Taiwan
      • Jiufen – the old mining town and now a maze of lanes and alleyways of shops with the touch of history and culure
      • Shifen – famous for its Sky lantern in the old railways
      • Yehliu – known for the rock formations
    • There are join tour offered in Klook for the above location by cheap Shared Shuttle Service
  • If you just want to stay in Taipei, here is what you can do
    • Visit the National Museum and Shung Ye Museum for a reduced ticket price in Klook
    • Visit Taipei Zoo
  • Last minute shopping in night market if you want to buy some pasalubong

Actually, we were not able to travel outside Taipei as we woke up late on our third day and our parents already don’t want to go far. So we end up with the latter option.
