Though I’ve been traveling solo on my previous trips, this I my first time traveling to a Schengen country. A dream destination for many Filipinos like me. Let us start my first European experience in Paris. The same as most of my post, I included my expenses during my trip to give future traveler an idea how much they should prepare. For those planning to apply for a Schengen Visa, check out my post for Schengen Visa Application Tips for Filipino Abroad (GCC).
For this guide, let us have 4 days to explore PARIS.
📍Day 1: Arrival (morning)
✔️If you reach Paris through Charles De Gaulle Airport, take the RER train to reach the center of the city.
✔️Even you still feel jetlag and sleepy after a long flight, don’t waste time and drop your luggage in your hostel/hotel. if you still cannot check it, most hotels will accept your luggage prior to check in.
✔️I suggest you to buy a PARIS PASS here, or you can have it also on their office. This is my first stop, pick up my Paris Museum pass
✔️After picking up the Pass, their office is just near Jardin des Tuileries, enjoy the park and have some coffee and croissant.
✔️Photo op in Arc de Triomphe du Carrrousel and outside of The Louvre. These two are only a short walking distance from the park.
✔️Get back to hotel to check in and freshen up
✔️Visit The Louvre, i choose to visit the museum late afternoon to avoid the long queue and crowd. Its open until 9:45pm every Wednesday and Friday. The Louvre is included in the Paris Pass, you have the option to avail audio guide for a fee.
✔️Selfie with the famous MonaLisa.
📍Day 2 Eiffel Tower and Museums
✔️I booked my Eiffel Tower tour (access to the top) by 11am, I still have enough time to visit other museum prior to my schedule. There are two museums near Trocadero (this is the subway station near Eiffel Tower).
✔️Both museums are included in the Museum Pass.
- Musee de l’Homme
- Museum of Architecture and Monumental structure
✔️Eiffel tower photoshoot while waiting for the museum to open
✔️After visiting the museums, explore Eiffel Tower summit – book your ticket here
✔️When you finished Eiffel Tower, a 20min walk to Army Museum and Les Invalides (Napoleon’s Tomb)
✔️Take subway to Notre Dame Cathedral from Les Invalides.
✔️After Notre Dame, walk to Saint Chapelle and Conciergerie.
✔️All of the locations above are included in the Paris Pass
📍Day 3 A Day Trip to Palace of Versailles
✔️Palace of Versailles (this is also included in Paris Pass and you can enter several times). After my first round inside the Palace, I entered again hoping to get a better photos with less crowd.
✔️The palace opens at 9am, 1hr -1.5hr is the travel time from Paris by RER train.
✔️I suggest to leave Paris by 7am to avoid long lines at entrance of the Palace.
✔️Explore the palaces and the gardens for about 4-5hrs. You can get back to Paris by 3pm.
✔️Visit Champs Ellysees and Arc de Triomphe for another photo op session.
✔️Head back to Eiffel tower by sunset. Relax, chill grab some snacks and wait until the Eiffel Twoer sparkles at night.
📍Day 4 Last Day in Paris
For this last day, let’s make use of our Paris Pass more. Visit the following
✔️Pantheon (ParisPass) – iconic silhouette and dome is perched at the top of the Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, the historic hill of the Latin Quarter.
✔️Sacré-Cœur Basilica (free) – Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This also gives you another overlooking point of the City of Paris
✔️Musee Dorsay (ParisPass) – holds mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography
✔️Jardin Du Luxemburg (Free) – the most centric, popular and beautiful park in Paris.
